Oil and propane tank chart

2500 litre oil tank chart

A 2,500 litre tank (about 550 imperial gallons) is what a large house, a farm building or a small business often runs on. It is one of the biggest bunded plastic tanks sold for home use. Below are depths in cm and the litres they stand for, for the Titan ES2500 and, for comparison, the round 1,300 litre ESV1300.

Your reading

Range: titan es2500 0 to 149 cm, titan esv1300 0 to 149 cm.

How to read the tables

Each tank is modeled as the outside box (or cylinder) from the maker's data sheet, with the litres scaled so a full tank equals the label. That gives a percentage you can trust more than the litre figure: at 40% of the height, roughly 40% of the label is in the tank.

Both tanks are about 150 cm tall, so one centimeter is worth around 17 litres on the ES2500. A dip that is 3 cm off is a 50 litre mistake. Take the stick reading twice.

Titan EcoSafe ES2500 (2,500 L)

Outside 2,450 × 1,425 × 1,490 mm. The shape alone would hold 5,202 L, so each row is scaled to 48% of it. Half the height reads 1,250 L.

How many fills a year

A big tank means fewer deliveries. This table assumes a fill reaches 90% and you reorder at 10%, so 2,000 litres are usable each time. The yearly amounts are examples; 2,512 litres is the average I use for a UK oil-heated home on the 1,000 litre page.

Litres a yearFills a yearDays per fill
1,500 0.8 486
2,512 1.3 290
3,500 1.8 208
5,000 2.5 146

An average home empties this tank about once a year, so one well-timed autumn delivery can cover the winter. Your own rate beats these examples: two dated dip readings give days left.

Where the sizes come from

Capacities and outside sizes are from the Kingspan Titan EcoSafe product selector (03/2026), which lists the ES2500 at 2450 × 1425 × 1490 mm. The label says 2,500 litres but the inner tank is smaller than the outer shell, so the tables are a guide. For the smaller bunded sizes see the 1200 litre oil tank chart.
